Managing Credits

Sona allows you to manage your credit and account information.  Sona also allows you to redistribute your credit in that manner.

For instance, you have 6 credits and have allocated 2 credits for Psyc 60 and 4 credits for Psyc 101. Later you realize you need 3 credits for Psyc 60.

This sometimes becomes an issue when you add or drop a class after the start of the quarter.  Sona will allow you to add a class to your account profile.  For instance, assume you made your account during the first week of the quarter when the only Psyc class you were in was 60.  In the second week of the quarter you added Psyc 101.  Sona allows you to add Psyc 134 to the list of classes that you are enrolled in.

However, Sona is not connected to Tritonlink and will not allow you to drop a class from your Sona account.  If you start the quarter enrolled in Psyc 60 and Psyc 101, and drop Psyc 101 in week 3, Sona will continue to assume you are in both Psyc 60 and Psyc 101.  Assuming both classes have a maximum credit limit of 3, Sona will still report to you that your total participation requirement is 6-hrs because you are still seen with 2 courses in your Sona account. Credit requirements are done on a class-by-class basis.  You should redistribute any participation credit that you had previously directed towards Psyc 101 to Psyc 60 instead, and not worry about the fact that Sona has slightly overestimated your total requirement.
