Psychology Undergraduate Advising

Advisors are Here to Help You! 

The Psychology Advisors are available to assist you with psychology major & minor requirements, degree audits, academic policies & procedures, research information, course planning, and other psychology-related questions. We're also here to connect you to a variety of campus facilities & resources such as the career center, community centers, disability services, teaching & learning commons, study abroad, and more.

Advising Hours & Location

  • Students may use the "Ask a Question" feature within the Virtual Advising Center (VAC) to submit questions to the psychology advisors. Advisor's responses can be found in the student's "Contact Record" area of their VAC. 
  • Our Frequently Asked Questions page has a wide variety of information and will most likely answer your question.
  • Drop-In Advising is currently being handled In-Person and Remotely via Zoom. 
    • Remote: sign in to your Virtual Advising Center (VAC), select "Meet with Advisor," scroll to "Psychology Dept." and you will be placed in the psychology advisors' queue for a Zoom meeting.
    • In-Person: Our office is located in Mandler Hall 1533

  • Tuesdays
    • 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.(Remote) 
    • 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. (In-Person)
  • Wednesdays (In-Person) 
    • 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
    • 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. 
  • Thursdays (Remote)
    • 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
    • 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. 

Note: Please review any additional times above that we might be closed due to an upcoming holiday. The availability of advising hours is subject to change.

 

Upcoming Canceled/Revised Advising Shifts

  • Wed. Nov. 27: All advising hours canceled for the holiday
  • Thurs. Nov. 28: University closed for the holiday
  • Fri. Nov. 29: University closed for the holiday
  • Wed. Dec. 11: All advising hours will be remoe

 

Current Students 

  • Please use the "Ask a Question" function in your Virtual Advising Center to ask questions about the psychology majors and minor. An advisor will respond to you within 4-5 business days (note: advisors do not answer VAC messages on weekends, evenings, or University holidays).
  • Sample academic plans can be found on each of our major pages; due to the flexible nature of our majors, we cannot create individual plans for students. For academic planning, please bring your proposed academic plan to our walk-in advising hours for you and the advisor to review together.

Incoming Transfer Students

  • Please visit the New Triton Advising (NTA) site for information on the steps you need to complete to be able to meet with a Psychology major advisor.

First-Year Students

  • We will begin meeting with first-year students in week 3 of the Fall quarter. Prior to meeting with an advisor during the Fall quarter, students are required to attend a Psychology Department Orientation session.
