New Student Orientation


Welcome to the Psychology Department! We offer two opportunities to help you acclimate to our department: online modules and an orientation presentation. 


Department Modules

The Canvas modules are self-paced and comprise several videos (closed caption). Resource links mentioned in the module are listed at the bottom of the page, so they are readily available to you. We strongly encourage you to pay close attention to each module and watch it in its entirety, as a lot of important information is included. Additional modules are unlocked as you finish each module. Incoming Psych Major Transfer students are required to complete all of the modules by July 30th. 

The entire online Canvas module should take between 30 and 45 minutes. 

Please follow the links below to select the appropriate Canvas module session for you (do not register for both, as most of the information is exactly the same). You will be prompted to sign in using your Single Sign On account (the same one you use to access the New Triton Advising site or your campus e-mail).

 

Department Orientation Sessions 

The one-hour presentation, hosted by staff advisors, covers information on our Psychology majors, major course requirements, academic planning, research, and more. There are two types of orientation presentations: one for incoming Fall 2024 (already declared) Psych Major transfer students and the other for continuing students, incoming first-year, and interested transfer students who are not declared a Psych Major. Please attend the appropriate session, as the information is different and geared toward the specific listed population. 

For (already declared) Incoming Psych Major Transfer Students, you are required to attend or watch the Psychology Orientation Live Session for Transfer Students. Please note that all Zoom session dates have now passed. Please watch the orientation for transfer students on Canvas now! 

For Incoming First-Year, Interested Transfers who are not declared a Psych Major, and Continuing Students, please attend one of the orientation sessions below for an introduction to the Psychology Department. Please do not attend a session specifically listed above for incoming Transfer students, as the session information will not pertain to you.

    • Wednesday, September 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Register)
    • Wednesday, September 25 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Register)
  • Virtual via Zoom
    • Friday, September 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Register)
    • Tuesday, October 15 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Register)

*Please note that the content in each of the four orientation sessions listed above will be the same*
