Master of Arts vs. Master of Science in Psychology Panel

  • Date/Time: Wednesday, January 24th 3pm-4pm (Virtual)
  • DescriptionDuring this panel, alumni from psychology master's programs will discuss their graduate school journey and how it shaped their career path. Students will learn about the key differences between an M.S. and M.A., career options, and receive advice from alumni.

  • Description: During this panel, Dr. Chapman and Dr. Dickenson will discuss their doctoral journey in psychology and how it shaped their career path. Students will learn about the differences between a Ph.D. and Psy.D., career options, and receive graduate school advice. Dr. Chapman received his Psy.D. in Clinical psychology from the Carlos Albizu University and Dr. Dickenson received her Ph.D. in Clinical psychology from the University of Utah.

Pathways to PhD 

  • Thursday, February 23rd, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
  • During the group panelist discussion, graduate students— from Experimental Psychology, Neuroscience, and Clinical Psychology— will discuss why they chose to pursue a PhD, how to prepare a strong graduate school application, how to choose a program/lab, and what life is like in graduate school. We will also hold breakout-rooms by area for students to ask more specific questions about our panelists' experiences, such as being an international or URM student. If you are interested in graduate school, attend Pathways to PhD! This event is eligible to apply towards the Co-Curricular Record Certification in Exploring Psychology Careers.

  • Interested in working in a research lab with Psychology faculty? Learn from two Psychology faculty members about what they look for in candidates, best practices of communicating with faculty members and details about the common application. This event is eligible to apply towards the Co-Curricular Record Certification in Exploring Psychology Careers.

Diversifying Psychology Event (Virtual)

  • Thursday, October 27th & Friday October 28th
  • This event hosted by the UC San Diego Psychology Graduate students will provide critical information and workshops for current undergraduates, especially underrepresented minority (URM) students, who are preparing to apply to graduate school. More information for this event, including the schedule for each day and the link for registration, can be found on this website. Registration closes Monday, October 24th. This event is eligible to apply towards the Co-Curricular Record Certification in Exploring Psychology Careers.

Study Abroad with Psychology!

  • Tuesday, October 11th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
  • Zoom information session discussing all the possibilities and protocols to study abroad as a Psychology major. The agenda will be as follows, a member from the Study Abroad office will discuss first steps to study abroad and a variety of study abroad opportunities, Professor Stephan Anagnostaras will discuss his Global Seminar Psychology courses, and an advisor from Psychology will also highlight the steps you need to adhere to when petitioning courses to count for your major abroad. We want to support your global education and this session helps you explore your options to go abroad and stay on track with your degree!

Pre-Health Transfer Student Transition Seminar

  • All new transfer or non-traditional students, the Pre-Health Transfer Student Transition Seminar is for you! Join Health Beat for a virtual seminar to welcome you to UC San Diego and help you navigate your way to your desired health profession. Health Beat is the Pre-Health professions advisement program through the Career Center. This seminar helps all transfer students learn tips to help maximize their two years and develop a strategic plan in order to be more competitive as applicants.  *This event is eligible to apply towards the Co-Curricular Record Certification in Exploring Psychology Careers.
