Other Support Opportunities in Psychology

Summer employment and additional academic year appointments

Graduate students may request and be assigned TA appointments for Summer Session, which pay $3,278 per course (at 50% time). Occasionally, there are also opportunities for additional 25% TA appointments during the academic year to meet the department’s teaching assistant needs.

Travel and Research Awards

Students are eligible (and encouraged) to apply to multiple funding opportunities and may combine awards from different sources.

Anderson Travel/Research Award

Twice a year, the Graduate Coordinator will issue a call for applications for the Anderson Travel and Research Fund, to support travel to present a research work at a scholarly conference or to conduct research. These awards are possible due to a generous gift from Professor Emeritus Norman Anderson.
Those without outside grant funding, those who have received minimally from the fund in the past, and those with seniority are given preference. The size of the award varies with available funding but awards in the $500 range are typical.

Intercampus Travel Grant

The Intercampus Travel grant provides funds for collaboration with researchers at other UC campuses. These funds cannot be used for UC colloquium speakers, even when combined with research collaboration. It is appropriate to use these funds for committed research projects for on-campus faculty. Grads can use these funds as well to travel to other UC campuses.
