Global Seminars
Internationalize your education and enhance your intercultural competence skills! Every summer, faculty from UC San Diego teach classes in locations across the world. These Global Seminars give students the opportunity to explore the globe while taking classes for UC San Diego credit. Financial Aid and Scholarships are available; more information can be found on the Global Seminars website.
Every year's offerings are different; information sessions are held during the Fall Quarter and applications are due in March.
There are a variety of locations and programs that you can explore on their website. Here are a few 2022 Seminars that may be of interest to Psychology students:
-
Drugs, Behavior and the History of Neuroscience in Greece (all Psychology majors and taught by a Psychology professor)
- Ireland's Silicon Valley (Business Psychology majors)
Please note: You will NOT need to petition Psychology Global Seminar courses since they are approved UC San Diego Psychology courses.
However, if you are taking a Global Seminar course outside of the Psychology Department, you will need to follow the steps below:
Before You Go:
- Approximately four to six weeks before you leave for your program, you should turn in your course Pre-Approval form, with a syllabus from a previous iteration of the course, so that our faculty can review your request and you can be ready to enroll when you arrive at your institution abroad.
- All Psychology courses taken abroad MUST be pre-approved and petitioned, even if you found them through the Study Abroad Office.
- All Business courses for the Business Psychology major should be petitioned through Rady School of Management.
Upon Your Return:
- Please use the Psychology Undergraduate Petition Form to submit your Study Abroad paperwork and petition your courses taken abroad. Keep in mind that it can take several days for an advisor to review your form; please plan ahead. We recommend that you submit your petition as soon as you can.
